Rockabilly Rockout!

We were lucky enough to attend the first ever Rockabilly Rockout at the beginning of the month put on by Tom Ingram. We both had a fantastic time! It was so small scale and manageable we saw all but one band and actually enjoyed them all as well! 15 out of 16 bands…not too shabby! And seeing Don Maddox was life changing!!! Definitely felt like the old Viva days. Another highlight…no pool party so we actually got to lounge by the pool a few times and swim without the crowds! We would definitely go again if another was held but not necessarily next year since we may possibly check out the Rhythm Riot again. Seeing info about the upcoming one is making us a wee bit sad we are missing it this year. Can’t do it all though! Still headed for a quick trip to Scotland and London!

I snapped at least one photo of each band but most did not turn out that great so I'll spare you from having to scroll through those.  On with the recap!

Thursday night Shaheen!

Rhythm Shakers

More Shaheen for Frankie's Tiki Room on Friday
(borrowed from a good friend...I don't wanna give it back!)

More Frankie's mugs to add to the collection!
The Firecrackers
Roy Rapid

Ready for Carlos Friday night!!!
Told ya it was like the old Viva days!  I probably have a photo just like this from years ago at the same spot in the Gold Coast!

The Margraves!
Wish I had a better photo but I was too busy rocking out!

Carlos and the Bandidos!
Same as above, no good photos of these guys either since
I was too busy enjoying one of my all time faves!

T-R-O-U-B-L-E!  Good times with Eric and Nishone!

Saturday night in my new Kamehameha bought at the Forbidden Island Parking Lot Sale from Relic Vintage.  Thank you Oran!

Young Jessie with Deke Dickerson on guitar!

The Jets!

Miss Ruby Ann with the Rip Em Ups!

Sunday brunch across the way at the Hash House a Go Go in the Rio.  Yum!

Step It Up and Go!
This band is the reason for Don Maddox getting back out there and performing again!
And there is the back of Rockin' Ronny Weiser.
Really enjoyed watching him rock out all weekend!

The absolute highlight of the weekend...

Emmy Lou and the Rhythm Boys!

Hi Strung Ramblers!

Hooray for new friends from Australia!  All thanks to Instagram!
Ben with Ross...

...and me with Sarah!  This couple has the BEST matching outfits!
Had so much fun chatting with them!

End of the weekend...
Deke Dickerson & the Ecco-Fonics!

About to do his signature upside down guitar solo!

Ta-da!  Ben was going to be one of the guys to help hold him up but thankfully they had another volunteer.  Too much fun!

Could not get enough of the Bow & Crossbones booth!  I wanted to buy so much more but still went away with these beauties!

Now to prepare for our annual trip to the UK! Watch out Edinburgh and London!

  1. I saw the photos on Instagram and it looks like this first event was enjoyed by all! Loving all your outfits too!

I'm not going to Rhythm Riot either this year and feeling a bit sad as well. But I have to save up for VLV next year! Enjoy your holiday in the UK :)

    1. Thank you so much! Too bad I have to limit what I take when we go to the UK :( You’re going to have so much fun at VLV next year! We are actually going to skip it this time and go to LA the weekend before instead for the pre-shows. Then hopefully Rhythm Riot 2015!

  2. Oooohhheeee! This looked like a fun party! So sad that we missed it. You were ON POINT with every single outfit - looking good, girl! Can't wait to seeeee you next week! xxx

    1. Thanks sweetie! Wish you guys could have been there with us! Can't wait to see you, too!!!!!! So soon!!!!!!!

  3. Party looks great and you look gorgeous too! We stayed in Gold Coast during the VLV 2014 and I would have liked to be back there for the Rockabilly Rockout.

    1. Thanks so much! Glad we got to go since we are skipping Viva next year. Such a fun time!
